Asante cancer centers to open together in January
The opening of the expansion of the Helen K. Spears Cancer Center at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center has been delayed by two months to coincide with the opening of the Mary and Dick Heimann Cancer Center in Medford in January.
The opening of both centers will, for the first time, provide coordinated and integrated regional cancer care for patients and their families, said Kristi Blackhurst, vice president of Operations who oversees Asante Cancer Services.
Construction of both centers is on time, and groups working through the operational logistics are on track, she said. Grand openings have not yet been set, but patients could be seen in either as early as the third week of January.
“Aligning the full opening of the two centers will help ensure that our teams are fully staffed and trained, and our technical systems fully transitioned so our patients receive the highest-quality care possible in the most safe, seamless and efficient manner,” Blackhurst said.
From construction crews, to HOA/Asante work groups and staff, to the Foundation, donors and our community, “We are grateful to all those who are working diligently to bring our dream of comprehensive, convenient cancer care to fruition at both locations,” Blackhurst said.
