Sometimes healing comes on fairy wings

Fantasy characters brighten the day in ARRMC’s Pediatrics Unit.

Bringing joy were, from left, Alex Ellis, a teacher; Asante’s Lyndsay Nashington and local actor Madeleine Fichera.

Nothing raises kids’ spirits more than a visit from a princess, except maybe a visit from a princess and a fairy.

In June, patients in ARRMC’s Pediatrics Unit were treated to just that. Mermaid Princess and Tinker Fairy stopped by to bring crafts, autographs, smiles and a little magic to acute and outpatient patients with the help of Hannah Miller and Lyndsay Nashington

Miller is an Asante child-life specialist and Nashington an Asante speech-language pathologist, who also owns and runs Enchanted Experiences, a local princess event company. Both are avid supporters of the Children’s Miracle Network, which provides services for children cared for at ARRMC through Asante Foundation.

“I am passionate about bringing magical events to children and adults in our community,” Nashington says. “And I’m thrilled and grateful to be able to collaborate Hannah and our Pediatrics department to make magic happen in our Children’s Miracle Network.”

Plans for future visits are already in the works, as are several community events through Medford Parks and Recreation Department and Youth 71Five Ministries, as well as private events. If you have any questions or would like to attend a future community event, feel free to email Nashington.
