5 star rating by CMSThe results are in and all three Asante hospitals have earned five stars from CMS for patient experience! This is the highest rating a hospital can receive. In Oregon, nine hospitals received five stars, with Asante garnering three of them. In the nation, only 266 hospitals out of 3,478 (about 8%) received the top star rating.

CMS scores hospitals on a one-to-five-star scale based on 10 publicly reported measures in the HCAHPS survey, which assesses patient experience. The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across all types of medical conditions after discharge.

To receive a rating, hospitals must have received at least 100 completed HCAHPS surveys over a four-quarter period.

Some of the survey categories include questions about communication with doctors and nurses, responsiveness of hospital staff, communication about medicines, discharge information, cleanliness of the hospital and quietness of the environment.
