Understanding your options is a vital part of good medical care. The Asante Health Plan gives you access to medical providers, health care Health plan categoriesprofessionals, facilities and more for a wide range of health-related services.

To get the most out of your health plan coverage, it’s best to understand how your choice in providers can impact what you pay for coverage.

Category 1 is Asante providers, services and facilities, and independent providers, services and facilities aligned with Asante through Asante Health Network. When you use this category, you save the most in out-of-pocket expenses. In addition, you will not be billed for balances beyond any deductible, copay and coinsurance for covered services.

Category 2 is specialists, services and facilities not in Asante Health Network, but who are part of the Regence contracted network. When you use this category, your out-of-pocket expenses are generally higher than if you choose an Asante provider, but lower than if you choose an out-of-network provider. This category has providers across the United States. For this category, you will not be billed for balances beyond any deductible, copay and coinsurance for covered services.

Category 3 is Regence-contracted specialists and facilities that provide services already offered within Asante Health Network. When you use this category, your out-of-pocket costs will be higher than the other two categories. However, if Asante Health Network does not offer that specialty service, the lower cost Category 2 coverage would apply. For this category, you will not be billed for balances beyond any deductible, copay and coinsurance for covered services.

Category 4 is providers, services and facilities not within Asante Health Network and not contracted with Regence. Choosing this option also means you may be billed for balances beyond any deductible, copay and coinsurance; this is sometimes referred to as “balance billing.”

You can search for providers by specialty, area and more by logging in to www.regence.com. The list also shows which category the provider is in. You can find more information about Asante Health Plan options on myHR or Asante.org.
