Effective Oct. 1, Asante will begin transitioning to SAIF as our workers’ compensation insurance carrier. Since 1980, Asante has been self-insured for workers’ compensation and has been working with Matrix since 2015 as our claims administrator.
Over the years, our organization has made great strides in our employee safety program, which makes it a good time to transition to an insured program with SAIF. SAIF has been in existence since 1914 and is the leading workers’ compensation carrier in Oregon. It is a self-supporting, not-for-profit company with the primary goal of keeping employees safe at work and taking care of injured workers.
Key transition dates:
- Beginning on Oct. 1, all new workers’ compensation claims filed for workplace-related injuries, illnesses or exposures will be processed by SAIF.
- Workers’ compensation claims filed before Oct. 1 will remain with Matrix, our current claim administrator, for ongoing management until Dec. 31. On Jan. 1, 2021, those claims will transition to SAIF.
If I need to report an injury after Oct. 1, whom do I notify?
All internal reporting of workplace injuries and exposures currently remains unchanged. Please refer to the Workers’ Compensation, On-the-Job Injury/Illness and Temporary, Transitional Duty Assignment policy for details.
Asante is working with SAIF and our benefits consultant to develop an electronic reporting tool to streamline the process. Additional information regarding this change will be provided in upcoming editions of Asante News.
