Southern Oregon’s first baby of 2021 born at AACH

Iris is the first child for a Talent couple

A Talent couple rang in the new year with the birth of their daughter, who also has the honor of being the first baby born in Southern Oregon in 2021.

Laurie Davis, 30, and her husband Tyler, 33, welcomed their daughter Iris Anne Davis at 4:14 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 1. She arrived weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measured 20 inches long.

Iris is the first child for the Jackson County residents, who have been married for a little over one year. Laurie grew up in the Sams Valley area and Tyler near Talent.

Laurie chose a water birth at Asante Ashland Community Hospital and was attended by Laura Letts, a certified nurse midwife with Asante Physician Partners in Ashland.

Three other New Year’s babies were born at Asante hospitals, including a boy at 8:11 a.m. and a girl at 9:54 a.m. at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center, and a boy at 8:07 a.m. at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

Our congratulations to all the new parents and our wishes for a happy and healthy year ahead.
