May 1: Oncology Grand Rounds
Asante providers, employees and medical staff are invited to attend Oncology Grand Rounds. This hour-long CME event takes place at:

Guest speakers are:
Daniel O. Herzig, MD, FACS, FASCRS, professor of Surgery, Division of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery, OHSU School of Medicine. He will present on “Organ Preservation in Patients with Rectal Cancer.”
Dr. Herzig is part of the OHSU Digestive Health Center and the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute. He specializes in the treatment of both cancerous and noncancerous diseases of the colon and rectum.
He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University and completed his surgical residency at Warren Alpert School of Medicine, Brown University in Rhode Island. He went on to complete advanced training in colon and rectal surgery, including minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy at the University of Texas, Houston. Dr. Herzig is board certified in surgery and colon and rectal surgery.
V. Liana Tsikitis, MD, FACS, FASCRS, professor and division head of Gastrointestinal and General Surgery, OHSU. She will discuss “Local Excision Options After Total Neoadjuvant Therapy.”
Dr. Tsikitis specializes in caring for adults with malignant and benign colorectal and anorectal diseases. She has advanced training in minimally invasive surgery and her research interests lie in colorectal cancer genetics. In particular, examining the etiology of colorectal cancer in young adults.
She earned her medical degree at Temple University School of Medicine and completed residency in general surgery at the Warren Alpert School of Medicine, Brown University, Providence, RI. She completed a fellowship in colorectal surgery at Mayo Clinic.
