Nurses sought for adjunct faculty at RCC

A partnership with Rogue Community College allows Asante to help train the nurses of the future.

Rogue Community College has openings for two adjunct nursing instructors as part of its expanded RN program in 2024, which aims to graduate 24 additional nurses per year.

The positions entail part-time teaching at the Health Professions Center in White City (Table Rock Campus), coupled with lab and clinical instruction in various medical settings across Grants Pass and Medford.

The instructors will play a pivotal role in implementing nursing clinical courses, providing direct supervision, and assessing the progress of assigned nursing students within hospital and clinical environments. Duties also include active participation in program faculty meetings, maintaining college standards in professionalism, record-keeping and fostering collaboration within the nursing program faculty team.

Asante is collaborating with RCC to expedite the hiring process, aiming to start orientation on Jan. 5, with work duties beginning on Jan. 8. The anticipated schedule for the role is Mondays and Tuesdays, 6:15 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. with some flexibility.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred; however, consideration will be given to RNs with an associate degree actively working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in nursing (with OSBN permission).
  • A registered nurse license issued by the Oregon State Board of Nursing is mandatory upon commencement. Additionally, a valid Oregon driver license is required if driving on behalf of the college.
  • A minimum of two years of recent full-time medical-surgical acute care nursing experience is a prerequisite. Broad clinical and teaching experience is highly desirable.

“What a resource for us to be able to collaborate with RCC,” said Anne Hansen, director of Asante Nursing Professional Development. “We can increase the volume of our nursing graduates, train them effectively within our organization and do it here locally so that they don’t have to leave to get their education somewhere else.”
