Heimann Cancer Center staff celebrate

A day after the center’s official grand opening, employees were treated to a private celebration just for staff.

Health Care Week events were brought back on June 6 to thank and honor the staff at the Mary and Dick Heimann Cancer Center in Medford. The center held an invitation-only grand opening the previous day, so Monday was devoted to the center’s 187 employees. At 11 a.m., the food trucks arrived, the prize wheel returned and executives handed out complimentary meal vouchers, just like the campus festivities in May.

On hand were Wendy Vaughn, clinical director, and Brian Murphy, administrative director. Oncologists Sandy Taylor, MD, and Mujahid Rizvi, MD, leading forces behind the cancer center’s treatment, also manned the executive table. ARRMC CEO Mick Zdeblick brought a Bluetooth speaker so the crowd could listen to some throwback ’70s tunes.

Employees who won the top Asante Wear prizes on the Asante prize wheel were:

  • Tom Johnston, patient service presentative: vest
  • Marsha Erickson, referral representative: fleece jacket
  • Janette Mays, patient service representative: windbreaker

Complimentary lunches were served by The Melt and Prickly Pear food trucks.
