The right-turn-only exit onto Barnett Road out of the parking lot in front of Hospital Entrance B at Asante Rogue Regional is closing for good July 10.
As a City of Medford permit condition to build the pavilion, Asante agreed to close the non-code-compliant exit because of its unsafe distance to the Murphy intersection and people making unsafe left turns onto Barnett, said ARRMC Facilities Manager Jeff Robbins.
The exit is located at the southeastern end of the parking lot. The nearby one-way access from Pediatrics to the parking lot will remain open.
Those entering Hospital Entrance B from Barnett Road will have to return the same way they came to get back onto Barnett.
Andersen Construction, the contractor for the pavilion, is doing the work. Crews will replace that exit with landscaping and an extension of the sidewalk from the hospital. No trees will be removed. The work will take about a month.
