Surprise, you can change or enroll in a flexible spending in June
As announced earlier, a new federal law allows Asante to offer mid-year enrollment for employees who want to make changes to their flexible spending accounts or enroll in an FSA. Between now and the end of the month, you can:
- Enroll in a health flexible spending account, a limited-purpose FSA or a dependent care FSA.
- Revoke your current coverage in any of these FSAs.
- Change your elections to either increase or decrease the annual amount for your current FSA.
Enrollment is open June 1–30. Changes take effect on July 1. If you revoke or decrease your current FSA, the decrease or revocation will be limited to the amount for which you have already been reimbursed.
There are two ways to request a change:
- Create a case in the Ask HR section of myHR. Click on the question mark at the top of the page or navigate to the Ask HR widget and click on the “Ask HR and View My Cases” link. Choose “Benefits and Benefits Enrollment” (click “New Case” if needed), enter a subject and then enter your changes in the “Issue” box.
- From your Asante email address, email your changes to
my**************@as****.org
.
If you have any questions, please email the Asante Benefits department or call (541) 789-4551. You can also submit a case in the Ask HR section of myHR.
The ABCs of FSAs
A health FSA is for health care expenses such as medical, dental, prescription, etc., for you and your dependents. It is compatible with the Asante PPO Health Plan, the Asante Reimbursement Health Plan and as a stand-alone option. The annual maximum contribution for this FSA is $2,700.
The limited-purpose FSA is for dental and vision expenses for you and your dependents, and is compatible with the Asante Savings Health Plan. The annual maximum contribution for this FSA is $2,700.
The dependent care FSA is for child care expenses for children up to age 13, including summer day camps, babysitting, day care centers and more. It is compatible with any of the Asante Health Plan options or as a stand-alone option. The annual maximum contribution for this FSA is $10,500.
All FSAs allow you to contribute pre-tax dollars into an account to pay for or reimburse yourself for eligible expenses. Any unused dollars typically do not rollover into the following year — you must use all the funds or forfeit what has not been used.
