The region’s first vaccination events about to take place

Asante will take part in vaccinations for community members who are part of the Phase 1-A sequencing.

Asante and Jackson County Public Health have received approval to hold a mass vaccination event in Jackson County to administer the COVID-19 vaccine. We are working together on the planning and process development of this event and have received confirmation that 34 members of the National Guard will be providing support. Asante employees are advised to continue to schedule vaccinations through Asante Employee Health.

Currently, this mass vaccination event will be a drive-through clinic held at the Jackson County Expo in Central Point on Jan. 21-23. A similar walk-in event is being planned for Josephine County at Grants Pass High School on Jan. 24-25, with support from the county’s public health department.

Information on the hours of operation and who is eligible to receive the vaccine will be announced in the coming days. Initially, Asante is will schedule appointments to vaccinate people in Phase 1-A as designated by the Oregon Health Authority. Other categories of people (65-plus, teachers, etc.) will be scheduled following state guidelines.

Jackson County will follow the Oregon COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution and Sequencing Plan and additional directives from the state. Asante will provide the vaccine allotted by the state and will develop a registration tool for people who qualify for the vaccine.

Asante knows how vital getting vaccinated is to the recovery of our community, and we are moving as fast as we can to increase the number of vaccinations in the most effective way.
