Outpatient center in Grants Pass makes room for inpatients

A 20-bed med/surg unit has opened in the Asante Outpatient Center to accommodate patients waiting to be discharged to a skilled nursing facility.
The surge of COVID-19 patients has cascaded from the ED (pictured) to the floors. Creating a temporary med/surg unit elsewhere frees up beds for these patients.

ATRMC has converted the same-day surgery area on the third floor of the Asante Outpatient Center to a temporary 20-bed med/surg unit for patients awaiting discharge to long-term care facilities.

The AOC Medical/Surgical Unit will free up room in the hospital for patients with COVID-19 or those needing a higher level of care.

Many of these patients are in need of short-term rehabilitation. Outpatient Rehabilitation Services on the fourth floor of AOC has stepped in to provide physical and other therapies so some patients may be able to discharge directly home and not transfer to a skilled nursing unit. As a result, outpatient rehabilitation will limit services and not accept new patient referrals for a period of time.

Urgent Care on the first floor and APP physician offices on the second floor will continue to operate as usual.
