Is a COVID-19 vaccination worth $1 million to you?

Anyone vaccinated within Oregon may be a winner in a random drawing slated for June 28.

Still need an incentive to get vaccinated against COVID-19? How about 1 million of them?

Any Oregonian 18 or older who has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by June 27 will be eligible to win up to $1 million.

The “Take Your Shot Oregon” campaign is a bid to entice enough people to get the vaccine so the state can reopen by July 4. Gov. Kate Brown has said she will lift most restrictions when 70% of Oregonians 16 and older have received at least one dose.

Oregon will hold a drawing on June 28, pulling winners randomly from a state database of vaccinated people. One person will win $1 million and one person in each of Oregon’s 36 counties will win $10,000.

The state will also offer five $100,000 scholarships through the Oregon College Savings Plan to vaccinated residents between the ages of 12 and 17.

The Oregon Health Authority will use the state’s vaccine database to assign a number to each person who has received at least one COVID-19 vaccine. The Oregon Lottery will conduct a drawing using those numbers and notify OHA of the winners. OHA will then contact the prize winners.
