Asante’s culture is about providing access to our patients and upholding behavioral standards. At APP–Neurology in Medford, Teresa Zakour exemplifies this culture daily. For this reason, she is this month’s recipient of the Spotlight of Excellence award.
As a PSR II, Teresa supports every person in the clinic from a physical, emotional and mental perspective — always in a “mom-like” way, her co-workers say. She ensures everyone’s birthday is celebrated and offer hugs or treats as needed. Her manager, Jackson Miller, describes her as helpful, caring, awesome, positive, selfless, always going above and beyond, and an excellent team player. Another co-worker, Michelle Gauthier, said, “I don’t know what we’d do without her.”
Patients enjoy their interactions with Teresa, and she has even helped those with chronic conditions improve their attitude toward their own care. She is part of a team that helps patients who typically dread appointments to look forward to the experience in the clinic, sometimes within a few visits. Teresa ensures patients feel listened to and cared for, and that is making a real difference.
“It’s easy to bring excellence to work when you work with excellence,” Teresa said in response to earning this honor. She gushes about her team. “If you look at what they bring to the table, it inspires my excellence to rise up. We all can set a bar and be more for each other and our patients.”
Teresa, we thank you for being a role model and a tireless patient advocate. You truly embody our Vision to be a trusted health partner for life.
This award is granted to an APP employee who has improved access to care, quality of care, financial stewardship or Asante’s behavioral standards.
Recipients receive a hand-written card from the division director, a cafeteria gift card and the opportunity to share what they do to contribute to APP’s high standards of care.
