Leaders inspire us to do better, achieve more, elevate our thinking, be our best selves and operate at an exceptional level. They inspire action through innovation and growth.

This is the foundational goal of the Asante Frontline Leadership Enrichment Coalition (AFLEC), a six-month program designed to develop and invest in Asante aspiring leaders.

A joint effort of Nursing Professional Development, Nursing Leadership and Organizational Development, AFLEC targets and engages high-performing frontline staff from all Nursing service lines, Respiratory Therapy and Nursing Operations by offering the opportunity for personal and professional growth.

Each cohort begins with the problem statement: “Different work units work well together.” The curriculum explores communication, business basics, financial acumen, constructive feedback and how to develop effective leadership styles.

By showcasing exceptional Asante leaders in featured areas, this project-based program examines the intricacies of nursing leadership.

Kristi Frederick, an Asante veteran and senior Organizational and Leadership Development consultant, is your guide on this journey. Kristi’s wealth of industry knowledge and deep pride in AFLEC creates an ecosystem of creativity, support and “humanness” all of which successfully shape the program.

Now in its eighth iteration, AFLEC’s projects have included the Walk in My Shoes program, Epic optimization and the Asante Collaboration Team, a brilliant idea from the last cohort we hope to implement.

Project teams are interdisciplinary and are expected to collectively work toward the goal of pulling people and teams together to strengthen Asante’s culture.

Over the past eight cohorts, AFLEC has helped guide some of its alumni to current leadership roles throughout the organization. With many participants moving into formal leadership roles, education-based roles, and even EPIC there is no shortage of talent and energy in these groups.

“How I love this program,” Kristi says. “The passion and energy are unmatched, and I feel so honored and grateful to be a part of something so magical. To watch these amazing caregivers come together, break down silos, and wholeheartedly lean into one another is incredible.”

Those interested in taking part in the program will be able to submit an application in May for the June cohort. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact kr**************@as****.org“>Kristi Frederick.
