As COVID cases rise, plans to ease visitor restrictions are halted

Asante had intended to allow more visitors and open cafeterias on July 22, but reversed that decision.

Due to a recent spike in COVID-19 cases in our hospitals and the broader community, Asante will retain current visitor restrictions until further notice.

These include:

  • Screening at entrances.
  • No visitors under age 18.
  • Only one visitor or support person per patient, per day.
  • Hospital cafeterias remain closed to visitors.

The system had planned to relax restrictions effective July 22 in all Asante facilities. However, as COVID patient volumes have steadily risen — nearly tripling in the past few weeks — Asante Infection Prevention is urging caution.

Asante hospitals currently have more than 30 COVID-confirmed patients compared with fewer than 10 last month at this time.

We do not come by these decisions lightly. The visitor team will this week to discuss a timeline for continuing these restrictions along with other measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our patients and staff.
