DNV survey arrives soon — virtually
Please clean out your refrigerators. Why you ask? Our system-level DNV remote survey is right around the corner. The surveyors like to take a peek into those, and the last thing they want to see is a liquified moldy sandwich from last year.
DNV surveys are conducted through tracer methodology, in combination with staff, patient interviews and a review of medical records, which will be completed via WebEx. While surveying the hospital, the surveyors also ensure that we are compliant with the ISO 9001 standards throughout clinical and non-clinical areas. Asante has a structured approach to our quality management system across all of our facilities. We will see our survey conducted remotely by at least two clinicians — either a registered nurse or a physician — a physical environment life safety specialist and a generalist, which is someone with an administrative quality related background.
When the surveyors arrive virtually, we will pull a patient census, the surgery schedule and a list of patients in restraints across all three campuses. With our hospitals’ policies in hand, the surveyors will look for evidence that we are practicing what we said we were going to do. Surveyors will visit many of our patient care units, visit with staff, look at open records and closed records remotely.
Surveyors will focus on:
- The COVID-19 public health emergency
- Emergency preparedness
- Bed management
- Infection prevention
- Supply chain shortages
- Contract services
- Medical record reviews
- Building tours
During the virtual visit they will be looking to make sure we all staff members are wearing a mask in accordance with Asante policy. DNV is very collaborative and they are there to drive Asante to be better. They’re a partner who can give us ideas about improvement, so we can be DNV-ready every day.
