Patients have the right to be free from mental, physical, sexual and verbal abuse exploitation, harassment and neglect.

Patients receiving care from Asante shall be treated with kindness, respect, care and consideration at all times. Two new policies act as guidelines for workforce members for suspected or alleged abuse, exploitation, harassment or neglect.

The Patient Abuse and Neglect (400-RISK-RISK-0010) and Mandatory Reporting of Abuse, Abandonment and Certain Injuries (400-RISK-RISK-0015) policies include the following:

  1. Identifying signs of abuse, exploitation, harassment and neglect.
  2. Intervening to prevent or mitigate abuse and neglect.
  3. Investigating suspected abuse and neglect.
  4. Reporting suspected abuse and neglect.
  5. Preventing future abuse and neglect.
