The work you do is increasingly complex and rapidly changing. We use evidence-based practices, clinical guidelines and regulations to guide our policies and procedures. These serve as a framework to deliver the same consistent, high-quality care and experience to our patients.

Nursing practice committees and councils

Our clinical policies, procedures, protocols, workflows and guidelines are essential to ensure that we work from a standard expected practice. They provide shared expectations, shared accountability and a shared language. They ensure that we hold ourselves to the minimum level of accepted practice so we can deliver high-quality care to every patient, every time.

Just like our patients’ need you, our policies and procedures do too, and we are always looking for bedside nurses’ involvement. We want you to have an opportunity to participate in the decisions that affect your work, and it’s critical that policies are procedures are useful resources for you. To this end, Asante offers several system-level practice councils where your engagement is needed.

At Asante practice councils:

  • Multidisciplinary care team providers from across the system work together to achieve a common goal and to reduce variation in products, supplies or processes.
  • Policies, procedures and processes are reviewed for alignment with the evidence and the resources we have at Asante. Can we do what our policies say we will do? Do our workflows make sense? Is there a more efficient way to provide care?
  • Decisions and options around future practices are proposed and reviewed so you can provide input.
  • Different disciplines from across units and the system have an opportunity to learn about one another and learn how different practices or processes impact one another so that our teams work well together.
