Third annual Preventing Snaccidents series returns online
We all have an inner autopilot when it comes to eating, especially when we’re hangry. You mean to have a green salad but instead you eat a whole bag of Cheetos. Oops — snaccident. To help you regain control and avoid these dietary slips, a new spin on an old four-week series is coming in June.
Facilitated by Asante registered dietitians and Health Promotion educators, this year’s Preventing Snaccidents series will be offered virtually via 30-minute WebEx sessions. Demonstrations take place virtually from 12:30 to 1 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays through June. The classes immediately follow the beWell webinars, so those attending both may stay signed on. If you want to attend just the Snaccidents series, you’ll be given a link to join.
Each session will have a “hanger management” spin and will consist of two 15-minute segments. In the first segment, a Food Network-style demo provides step-by-step instruction while facilitators cover the biological explanation of the “hangry” effect and share strategies to avoid this vulnerable state. In the second segment, a 15-minute interactive Q-and-A will encourage viewer participation with facilitators.
Viewers will learn how to prepare these nutritious snacks and acquire snack-hacks to stay healthy:
- Banana mocha smoothie with cold-pressed coffee
- Herbed watermelon salad with balsamic reduction
- Almond Joy protein ball
- Raita and tzatziki
- Zucchini sushi
- Tropical fruit salsa
- Lettuce wrap with balsamic tuna, avocado and tomato
- Cucumber salad with ginger, garlic and soy
Retroactive recordings will be made available on the beWell Webinars page in July. Those interested in joining live should email Asante Health Promotion or call (541) 955-5519 to ensure you receive an Outlook calendar invitation.
