How to enter

Our annual summer contest is A View from My Window, a photo series that lets us live vicariously through you — wherever you are this summer. Submit your best photo taken from any window in your house, barn, car, boat or even a hotel room between Jan. 1 and Aug. 30, 2022, and you may win a prize!

Here are a few rules:

  1. The window frame, panes or sill must be visible in the photo.
  2. Describe what we’re seeing and where and when the picture was taken. (“View of my garden in Grants Pass, 11 a.m. June 13.” “Aboard a cruise ship in Alaska, 6 a.m., July 5,” etc.) Entries taken earlier than 2022 or without a location, time and date, may be rejected.
  3. Email your submission to [email protected]. Include your name, job title, department and facility in the email.
  4. Photos should be sent as an attachment .jpg and not embedded in the body of your email or other document.
  5. One photo per person.

Photography pro tips

Clean the glass.

Turn off your flash to prevent glare.

Turn off interior lights that might reflect in the glass.

Avoid taking the picture when the sun is shining directly through the window.

Professional photographers use polarizing filters. If you know what those are you’re halfway there.
