With COVID still plaguing our summer travel and gas prices gouging even our staycations, Asante News is staying even closer to home this summer.

With a nod to the popular Facebook group of the same name, our annual summer contest is A View from My Window, a photo series that lets us live vicariously through you — wherever you are this summer.

Submit your best photo taken from any window in your house, barn, car, boat or even a hotel room between June 1 and Aug. 30 and you may win a prize!

Here are a few rules:

  1. The window frame, panes or sill must be visible in the photo.
  2. Describe what we’re seeing and where and when the picture was taken. (“View of my garden in Grants Pass, 11 a.m. June 13.” “Aboard a cruise ship in Alaska, 6 a.m., July 5,” etc.) Entries without a location, time and date may be rejected.
  3. Email your submission to [email protected]. Include your name, job title, department and facility in the email.
  4. Photos should be sent as an attachment .jpg and not embedded in the body of your email or other document.
  5. One photo per person.

Photos will be posted on Asante News Online and may be shared on Facebook. The best photo as judged by Asante Communications and Marketing will win a $50 Tango gift card and bragging rights. The winner will be announced in Asante News.

Photography pro tips

Clean the glass.

Turn off your flash to prevent glare.

Turn off interior lights that might reflect in the glass.

Avoid taking the picture when the sun is shining directly through the window.

Professional photographers use polarizing filters. If you know what those are you’re halfway there.
