Not all masks are created equal

The source-control masks available at entrances should not be use in patient care areas.

Masking is still required in all parts of Asante hospitals, clinics and patient care areas.

Asante is experiencing higher than expected use of ear loop clinical masks from our front entrances. With supply chain constraints, Asante is no longer stocking clinically-approved masks at Asante entrances. Instead, we are supplying source-control-only masks at entrances for visitors, patients and staff coming into work. Because these do not meet requirements for clinical use, source-control masks are to be worn in non-patient care areas only.

All staff members must change into a mask approved for clinical use before entering clinical care areas or before starting a patient care assignment. Clinically approved masks are available at the unit or clinic.

Need help to make sure you are wearing the correct mask? Guidance for clinical masks and N95 respirators, along with other PPE guidelines, are located on COVID-19 hub.
