Livongo benefit adds diabetes prevention, weight management
Asante’s popular diabetes-management benefit, offered free to qualifying employees on the Asante Health Plan, now includes a weight-management program and diabetes prevention program for those at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.
Preventing diabetes has taken on greater urgency with the COVID-19 pandemic, since people with chronic health conditions are more likely to succumb to the virus than healthy individuals.
Those who want to manage their weight or who have been diagnosed with prediabetes — defined as having a fasting blood sugar level between 100 and 125 mg/dL or hemoglobin A1c between 5.7% and 6.4% — will receive digital and live coaching from experts when they enroll in the program. They also receive:
- A “smart scale”
- Progress reports
- Personalized lessons for healthier habits
To be eligible for:
- The Diabetes Maintenance Program, you’ll need a self-reported diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes
- The Diabetes Prevention Program, you must provide a validated blood test result indicating prediabetes, a qualifying score based on the CDC Prediabetes Risk Test or a history of gestational diabetes.
- The Weight Management Program, your body-mass index must be 25 or higher (minors must be at least 13 years old)
To get started, visit Livongo Health or call Livongo member support at (800) 945-4355. If asked for a registration code, use ASANTE.
The program includes trends and support on your secure Livongo account and mobile app, but does not include a tablet or phone. You must have an iPhone or Android smartphone to participate in the program.
