Leader spotlight: Katie Ledford, APP

Her roots with Asante go back to birth; now she’s leading operations for surgical and hospital-based specialties.

Katie is a Southern Oregon native and longtime employee of Asante. She was born at ARRMC and later returned to Asante to work for APP in 2014. Since
then, Katie has served as the practice manager for APP–Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, APP–Neurology, APP–Family Medicine on State Street and,
most recently, director of operations for surgical and hospital-based specialties.

What did you do before coming to Asante? I worked in long-term care overseeing a continuing care retirement community in Santa Clara County.

Why did you decide to join Asante? Asante has a great reputation for quality care, organizational culture and community outreach. Back in 2014, APP was on this trajectory for tremendous growth in primary care, specialty services and community partnerships which was very exciting.

What do you like best about working for APP? The best part of my role as a director of operations for APP is working with my teams. I oversee a
wonderful group of dedicated practice leaders, caring providers and hardworking clinical staff.

How do you define leadership and what is your leadership philosophy? I believe leadership is cultivated from a genuine understanding of the people you serve internally as well as externally in an organization. One of the most important and fundamental leadership philosophies I’ve focused on throughout my career is following through.

ledford-atvAs a child, what did you see yourself doing when you grew up? Growing up, I always did well in math and thought about working in finance during my undergraduate coursework at Oregon State University.

What do you hate, but wished you loved? Sales! I know people who are extremely talented in this area, but it’s not something I love to do.

What would surprise people about you? I’m an ARRMC original. It’s the first place I stayed when I was born.

What’s the wisest thing anyone has ever told you? Never regret a day in your life: Good days provide happiness, difficult days provide experience, worst days provide lessons and the best days provide lifelong memories.

What’s on your bucket list? Someday I would love to see the northern lights.

What turns up most in your music queue? I listen to all different genres, but lately it’s been Hillsong United, Zack Williams and Lauren Daigle.

Favorite hobby: Camping on the Oregon Coast and riding the dune trails.

  • Katie is a delightful, talented and capable person. As a clinic supervisor, I thoroughly enjoyed her engaging and empowering management style. Katie accomplishes whatever she sets her mind to, without steamrolling over anyone in the process. A true servants heart.
