How to keep tabs on encroaching wildfires

If it’s August, it’s wildfire season in Southern Oregon. With smoke from the wildfires blowing into our communities, it’s difficult to know if it’s from an existing fire or a new one.
For current information on wildfire activity, there are several resources you may access to learn more about fire locations, firefighting efforts, containment, road closures, fire restrictions and more.
To receive notices about evacuations in your area, you are highly encouraged to sign up for Citizen Alert, an emergency notification system that uses Everbridge. This link to sign up is good for residents in Jackson and Josephine counties.

Watch Duty is also a terrific free app to download that sends push notifications in your area. The local news stations use it.
