Hospital screening process changes for employees

All staff members are asked to attest to their wellness electronically instead of going through the screening line.

Beginning on Tuesday, April 20, employees entering any of Asante’s hospitals will be asked to attest to their wellness electronically instead of going through the staffed screening line.

There are three ways to check in:

  • Hourly employees will use Kronos, which includes a wellness check. See page 5 of this tutorial.
  • Exempt employees can use the Now Mobile app, which was implemented in October.
  • Or they can attest on MyTech at their workstation computer. Here is a step-by-step guide.

Update: The QR for the Now app has been disabled. Employees instead will choose the location they’re entering by a drop-down menu. The process applies to both the Now app and MyTech check-in.

Main hospital entrances will still be staffed to screen patients and visitors, but employees should not go through the screening line to enter.

Also, employees must wear some sort of mask when entering the hospital and exchange it for an approved mask once they reach their department or unit. Employees are still advised not to come to work if they are ill. Instead, they should call Asante Employee Health at (541) 789-3674.

REMEMBER: Even if vaccinated, all employees must wear a mask and practice physical distancing within Asante facilities, including conference rooms and break rooms.

Can hourly employees continue to use the Now mobile app?

      Jenny,
Unfortunately, it is “all or nothing”, so you will get the Kronos attestation question starting tomorrow when you clock in. Using the Now Mobile App would be duplicative.

Since employees do not need to go through screening lines any longer, can we now go in and out any doors? I used to come in the door near to the heliport on the ground level but had to stop to go through screening lines.
    Thanks, Susana

      Susana,
If the door is equipped with badge access, you may use that entrance instead of going in one with a screener. It is important that you are appropriately masked when you enter through any entrance while you are walking through the facility to get to your work area.

  • The screening sign in sheets and the electronic daily screenings where is the information sent to? Does anyone look or monitor this information?

    Barb,
The documents are maintained and have been used for contract tracing purposes in the past. The Now Mobile App and the Kronos attestation information is monitored and if employee select that they are not well, those are sent forward to the employee leadership and we ensure that those employees did not work if they have symptoms of COVID-19.

Can any employee log into MyTech and use the Health Verification system, rather than using an app on their personal phone?

  • Yes, John. See the “step by step guide” linked above in the article in the third bullet.

  • Are all the departments to order masks now or will they still be available at the entrances?

  • Dawn, we are clarifying that process with materials and we will provide more information to the manager/director list when we have that finalized. In the meantime, as noted in the article, employees should bring a cloth mask or other simple mask to wear when they arrive to an Asante facility as they navigate to their home department/unit.

  • Hello, I have recently had questions about nursing students (and other “non-employees”. Where are they to be doing their screening now?

    • Caitlin,
Most non-employees like students will still need to gain entrance to our facilities through an entrance with a screener, answering the questions along with the patients and visitors coming in. We don’t have an opportunity for them to use the mobile NOW app. For travelers, if they are clocking in using Kronos, they should have the health attestation like other hourly employees, so they can skip the screening line.
