Help wanted: COVID-19 vaccinators

Immunizations are ramping up and volunteers are needed to administer the Pfizer vaccine to the next phase of eligible participants and those needing their second dose.

The large-scale vaccination events in Jackson and Josephine counties immunized thousands of people — which means thousands now need a second dose in a few weeks. In addition, scheduling has opened for Phase 1B, which includes child care providers, educators and school workers. Vaccines for adults age 65 and older are expected to be scheduled soon.

To help make this happen, lots of volunteers are needed. Asante is seeking actively licensed providers — physicians, advanced practitioners, nurses, medical assistants and vaccine-certified pharmacists — to help administer first and second doses in Medford and Grants Pass with another location to be announced shortly. The system also will need general support from non-clinicians.

Volunteers may get the vaccine in advance of their service if they wish. To volunteer, submit this web form. (Asante employees may also email Va*********************@as****.org.) Someone will reach out to you with next steps.

If you have questions, please email co*****@as****.org.

  • I am not a medical clinician. But, I am certain that you can use help checking forms, directing traffic, or any other non-professional task. I am a licensed teacher and great at following directions. I am available in Jackson county and would love to help out with the vaccination process. I have just received my first shot.

I love it that everyone wants to help. It’s so awesome! I’m one of the current interim supervisors in the clinic. There is a big need at the Expo event and daily at our EPIC center in Medford. Any clinical and nonclinical volunteers need to take the same track (email above or weblink above) and will be assigned from there. Anyone who wears a teal, pink or gray vest as official volunteers of the hospitals can work with Kelly at ARRMC or Carol at ATRMC to be placed.

      Many hands make light work.

I must say as someone in the trenches working on a team to vaccinate hundreds per day, I’m so encouraged by these comments. Thank you for that! Please get signed up via email to Va*********************@as****.org or submit the web form linked at the end of this beautiful article.
