Foothill Road closures may affect your commute
Employees heading to work via Foothill Road may have noticed some road construction underway. The route is closed evenings and weekends through the end of April as crews begin work on the Medford Foothill Road Project, which involves widening and upgrading the road along with installing communication lines from the Lone Pine Road power substations.
Traffic is now diverted from that route from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays and around the clock on weekends. The detour directs southbound traffic from Foothill Road to Cedar Links Drive, to Springbrook Road, to Lone Pine Road and back to Foothill Road. Northbound traffic has the opposite detour.

The $62 million project will upgrade Foothill Road between Hillcrest and Delta Waters roads. The number of travel lanes within the section of Foothill Road will increase from two lanes to five, including a center turn lane. Other improvements include new bike lanes, sidewalks, storm drains, street lighting, retaining walls and landscaping.
Construction on the Medford portion of the project from Hillcrest Road to Delta Waters Road is expected to be complete by the end 2026. To learn more, visit foothillroadproject.org.
