Thanks to everyone who responded to our recent survey on how Asante can support those of us who have school-aged children at home. Many of you suggested Asante provide a way to easily find resources, correspond with one another and allow employees who may have children in the same school district to connect, form “parental pods,” etc. We have created a website, delivered through SharePoint, which you are able to access using your Asante network login and password from any computer with internet access (not just from an Asante computer).
For easy access in the future, please bookmark this Parent Resource site on your Internet Explorer or Chrome browser. You can also access this Parent Resource SharePoint site by navigating to the WebBasedApps folder on your desktop > Asante SharePoint. In the search field, type in Parent Resource Site > click on link to the Parent Resource Site.
You’ll find three main sections on the site:
- Schools: As noted, you can find other parents in your school district here (and add your own).
- Parent Resources: Useful links to teaching and child care resources. You can also submit your own to be added.
- Parent Discussion Board: Talk to your fellow working parents.
We hope this is a useful tool as you navigate this crazy time. If you have suggestions on how to improve the site, you’ll find a link to email [email protected] on the site’s home page.
In addition, Asante is providing some financial support to each of the local YMCA programs to assist in their scholarship opportunities to help defray the costs of their school-aged virtual learning programs. The amount of support is based on parents’ financial need. The YMCA programs serve families in Ashland, Phoenix, Talent, Medford, Central Point, Eagle Point, and Grants Pass.

Emotional support for parents
Parent of school-age children may need help of their own. Asante’s Employee Assistance Program now offers an online peer support group where you can talk with other parents about common parenting issues and how to cope with them.
The support groups are easy to access by computer, tablet or smart phone. The EAP is also available for counseling, work/life balance and more. To register for a parenting support group, or for more information, call (866) 750-1327.
If you need answers for a personal work matter, please contact the author or department directly instead of leaving a comment.
