Carolyn and Brian Gilmore made a striking pair for the Auxiliary’s award-winning float.

Congratulations to Asante Three Rivers Auxiliary for taking home overall third-place honor and first-place for the senior category for its float in the 2022 Boatnik Parade in Grants Pass on May 28.

The Auxiliary’s entry theme was “To serve and protect our children is strong with the auxiliary force,” a spinoff of the parade’s theme.

Dozens of “Star Wars” characters included Ewoks, stormtroopers, Darth Vader and C-3PO walked before the impressive Ewok village with Maz Kanata and R2-D2 onboard.  A motorized AT-AT Walker (All Terrain Armored Transport) with moving parts led the way.

Honored was longtime Auxiliary volunteer Ray Stark, who died last month at 105 years old. In 2020 he was looking forward to being there as Obi-Wan Kenobi. A memory box was placed on the float filled with photos and items to remember him at his memorial, to take place on June 13.

I’m so sad to learn of Ray’s passing. He always had such a vibrant personality and “Hello!” for all. Great job to TRMC Aux for all their hard work and dedication to our patients, providers, staff and general public coming to visit loved ones, and honoring Ray at Boatnik.
