Asante pilots automated reminders for patient appointments
In keeping with its focus on ensuring access to care and consumer-friendly service, Asante is testing automated emails, phone calls and text reminders for patients of select clinics and imaging departments.
The system is partnering with an outside vendor, Relatient, to provide the service. The pilot phase, which began on June 1, is limited to three APP family medicine clinics in Medford and Grants Pass and each hospital’s MRI departments.
“One of the tenets of patient access is making sure patients get to the right place at the right time,” said Glen Johnson, project manager for Asante Population Health. “Our care delivery model and commitment to our community depends on it.”
If the patient has provided a mobile number, a confirmation text will be sent when an appointment is booked. Five days before the appointment, the patient will receive an email asking them to confirm their appointment. If they don’t respond, follow-up contacts will include another text, an automated phone call and finally a personal phone call. On the day of the appointment a final text is sent with the time and location.
The aim is to increase patient engagement, broaden access to service and ensure that patients get the appointment they need. The pilot is expected to last through June, after which it will be phased in for all appointment-based services.
