Asante introduces lots of ways to beWell in 2022

The popular employee health and fitness program kicks off with an outdoor challenge.

Healthy food, regular exercise and a balanced lifestyle can help prevent all kinds of health conditions, from heart disease to diabetes and certain cancers. Health care workers are as vulnerable to these diseases as the rest of the population, which is why Asante Health Promotion created the employee beWell Program. Through physical challenges, informative webinars and fun cooking shows, the program helps participants gain knowledge, build strength and maybe lose a few pounds.

This year’s activities bring back some popular features and add a new one. In addition to the “Prove You Move” challenges, there’s “Show You Grow,” a challenge that takes a holistic approach to wellness.

All actively engaged participants will be entered for random drawings to win a quarterly grand prize worth $100. In addition, employees and spouses enrolled in the Asante Health Plan can complete the 15-minute health assessment on the Regence website (the Empower portal) to receive a $25 Amazon gift card. For help with the redemption process, call (888) 344-8235.

This outdoor movement-based challenge encourages six weeks of outdoor activities, such as hiking. The point is to hike, cycle, run or walk at least three miles. Email a “Prove You Move” entry to Health Promotion.

Include a selfie pic at a summit, near a trailhead sign or send a screenshot of your activity app’s outdoor workout summary. Three lucky participants have a chance at winning a random prize valued at up to $100 (A winner from each location: ATRMC, ARRMC and APP/AACH). The more you send, the better your chance to win!

No registration required.

The “Prove You Move” challenges are a great way to work on fitness, which benefits our physical health. However, wellness is a holistic integration of many dimensions. Therefore, we’re introducing the “Show You Grow” challenges.

There are eight mutually interdependent dimensions that can be worked on: intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, physical, occupational, financial and environmental.

Suggestions for action are based on which dimension scores the lowest. During the 2022 calendar year, participants who take on improvement efforts for personal development and balancing their eight wellness dimensions can email in a “Show You Grow” entry for the quarterly prize drawings valued at $100.

No registration is required and entries accepted until Dec. 31, 2022. Get started »

Medford’s oldest tradition, the Pear Blossom Festival is a pillar in our community emphasizing family values, commitment and pride in our Rogue Valley. This is an annual Asante sponsored event, with great fun for the whole family. Race events include a fun run Mayors Cup 1- and 2-mile, 5K walk/run and 10-mile run.

Scholarships for area high school senior girls have been a hallmark of the Festival Association since 1991; your registration fees go to an awesome cause.

Email Health Promotion for a “Prove You Move” entry, include a photo of you with your bib number or your activity app’s outdoor workout summary if the event happens virtually like 2020 and 2021. Registration details are available online.

The 2022 series has eight new webinars planned to offer “skill-power over willpower” wellness topics.

Webinar discussions are planned for Wednesdays at noon covering topics from each wellness dimension: intellectual, emotional, social, spiritual, physical, occupational, financial and environmental. Each session will be 30 minutes and consist of 15 minutes of presentation with 15 minutes of Q&A.

The webinars run April 6 through May 25. Email Health Promotion for webinar links.

Summer and fall are some of the best times to eat fresh, whole foods while supporting our local farmers. This challenge is designed for those interested in healthy meal and snack prepping.

Once weekly for six weeks, superfoods will be explored in six videos made available on demand like the 2021 videos. Participants who want to be entered for random prize drawings valued at up to $100 will submit pics of their superfood recipes, meals prepped with locally-grown organic produce or selfies taken at the Rogue Valley Farm Tour to Health Promotion.

Superfoods include dark leafy greens, berries, legumes, nuts, seeds, garlic, onions, olive oil, avocado, salmon, root vegetables, mushrooms, Greek yogurt and quinoa.

You must register through Health Promotion between May 16 and 30 to participate. The challenge runs June 1 through July 13.
