Asante COVID-19 case status at a glance

This graphic is updated daily to reflect current conditions on caseload, ICU census and ventilator use.

The daily COVID hospitalization graphic is suspended while patient volumes remain at low levels. If Asante experiences another surge, we will resume publication.

  • Maybe an additional column for each metric that indicates either an up-arrow or down arrow to indicate daily changes in patient categories.

Random question… do we know any of the “blood types” of the people with the most deaths amongst these patients???

  • What do these numbers need to get to in order for elective surgeries to begin again at Ashland hospital? There are hundreds waiting for an update or at least a metric to watch so that they can have inpatient procedures to eliminate pain and disabilities.
An update for these patients would be considerate.

  • I notice that vaccinated individual comprise a higher percentage of overall deaths (about 15%) compared with those hospitalized, in ICU/IMCU, or on a ventilator (<5%). This seems to be consistent over the couple of weeks I've been watching these numbers. I would love it if you would could provide some insight as to why this is the case.

    • Why were the Vaccinated/unvaccinated numbers taken off the “Deaths in the last 7 days” graphic? I see the addition of “Deaths in the last 90 days” with vaccinated/unvaccinated, which took place on September 8th. Is there any way we can add “recovered” to the graphic?

  • Barb- many of the vaccinated pts who die are old and immunosuppressed so they are dnr/DNI and never get intubated

    • Kindly. I have several (vaccinated) elderly relatives in excellent shape, but their age puts them at high risk. They are DNR. But we all hope they go out gracefully and on their own terms, not suffering due to an illness that is, at this point, largely preventable if we all took prudent measures.

  • Thank-you for caring for the unvaccinated!
If they survive, they will have a natural immunity to help them through
    this horrible pandemic.

  • This is the most easily understood COVID-relevant information that directly pertains to our community. Kudos to the designer(s). Thank you

  • What about adding a column for deaths with preexisting commorbities and no commorbities?

    • Hello Lindsay,
Here is a list of comorbid conditions that can increase the risk for serious effects from Covid… It is pretty long..

  • I’m respectfully asking again, what do these numbers need to get to in order to begin elective surgeries. Many, like my husband who had his surgery cancelled the day before it was scheduled over five weeks ago, are waiting for some word as to when they will begin again. Please address this!

  • Would love to see more age groups. Age 18-64 is WILDLY huge.

  • Would it be possible to provide all vaccination status information? So far (like most reports across the country), only FULLY vaccinated (completed a shot series plus 14 days) are listed as vaccinated. All others are packed into the unvaccinated status. We would like to see full transparency where partial vaccinations are included in the information. According to the producers, the first shot of 2 shot series are 40-85% effective. If that is true, we should see value to that statement, in low numbers hospitalized that are partially vaccinated.

  • Please add a column of partially vaccinated. As of now, this chart is very misleading. I would like to see the percentage of 100% not vaccinated, 50% vaccinated and 100% vaccinated. This would be much more realistic to represent the data in this way. Categorizing those partially vaccinated in with the not vaccinated is misleading and making that appear to be higher than those vaccinated. At least present correct information for display.

    • How come so many deaths among vaccinated folks?? 14% seems like an awful lot!?

      Reply
      • Grants Pass currently has a 66% vaccination rate. As that trends upwards the percentage of folks in the ICU who are vaccinated will also.

For example, if 100% of folks were vaccinated you’d expect 100% of folks in the hospital to also be vaccinated. Scaling these numbers relative to vaccinated / unvaccinated populations you’re a little over 10x as likely to end up in the ICU when unvaccinated.

  • Now that we seem to be getting over the surge, could we get the 180 day mortality data to get a more clear picture of what COVID has done to this valley?

    Reply
  • Why has the number in the 180 mortality rated continued to drop. Am I reading this wrong. I know deaths continue to climb.

NYT is reporting almost 400 cases on Jackson Co yesterday… whats up with that?

  • But how many of these positive results are admits for Covid vs other admitting diagnosis, asymptomatic and just routinely tested (MVA, acute trauma, etc.)?

    Reply
  • Would be super helpful to know what percentage or number of patients incidentally test positive for Covid while being admitted to the hospital for an unrelated problem. With the high prevalence of omicron in the community, I’m sure this is happening. I have seen this happen a number of times in regards to my own patients. Seems like it would be helpful data to have.

  • I would really like to see the Covid-19 at a Glance chart reinstated, last date was March 18, 2022. It was good to see the numbers going down, and I really liked that you all started tracking vaccinated and boosted. That was very good information.
