Asante closes its Cave Junction lab, X-ray site

Lack of staffing prompted the closure of the site housed in Siskiyou Community Health Center.

CJ labIt’s been a good, long run in Cave Junction. After 15 years of providing X-ray and laboratory services there, Asante discontinued operations on Thursday, July 14.

The clinic was located in leased office space within Siskiyou Community Health Center on Redwood Highway. It was open Monday through Thursday and served fewer than 50 patients per week.

Patients from that clinic who have lab orders are being referred to Asante Outpatient Center in Grants Pass. Patients with imaging orders will go to Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

The clinic closed to consolidate services in Josephine County and for staffing reasons. The phlebotomist is retiring and there’s no one to fill the position. The one registration employee will be redeployed within our health system. Additionally, X-ray had not been offered before October 2021 because of lack of staff to send to the Cave Junction site.

It’s unknown if Siskiyou Community Health Center will establish its own lab services.
