Asante Ashland adds a Coumadin clinic

Ashland-area patients on the blood-thinner warfarin can now get their medication monitored closer to home.

Access to care is about to get easier in Ashland with the opening of a Coumadin clinic at Asante Ashland Community Hospital. The clinic is located on the second floor near the registration desk. It opens on Thursday, March 4, and will see patients by referral and appointments.

Coumadin (warfarin) is a blood thinner recommended to manage several health conditions, including venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, atrial fibrillation, prosthetic heart valves and selected stroke prevention.

The clinic will provide each patient with well-maintained therapeutic dosing, including review of diet, medical condition and effects of other medications.

Asante operates a Coumadin Clinic on Creekside Circle near ARRMC and another at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. These outpatient programs have been shown to provide more precise control of blood thinning. Patients who receive regular monitoring have better outcomes and fewer complications.

Appointments are by provider-referral only. Providers should call (541) 201-4450 or fax to (541) 201-4451.
