ARRMC construction to temporarily close Medical Center Drive

Shuttle and entrance hours also are changing to accommodate construction of the new pavilion.

The ground-floor concrete pour for ARRMC’s pavilion is nearly complete, providing a clear picture of the building’s footprint. Steel beams will start arriving in late April or early May.

A new sewer line for the pavilion will require the closure of a small section of Medical Center Drive near the Cardiovascular Institute for three to four days.

The closure will start April 19 while Knife River crews dig a new manhole, install piping and backfill to connect the pavilion’s sewer line into city services. Medical Center Drive should reopen later that week, but work will continue through April 30. Traffic will be rerouted behind the CVI building and P2 parking garage during the closure.

Shuttle hours change

Because of low ridership and to save on costs, Asante Rogue Regional has discontinued its late-night service for the temporary shuttle that’s been transporting patients and employees around campus during construction of the pavilion. The shuttle is now running from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Ridership during the day has increased every month since January, but only a few people are riding the shuttle after 10 p.m., said Julie Hale, Asante director of Support Services. Some nights, the shuttle gets no riders at all, she said.

Valet service still will be available at the Emergency Department entrance overnight to park patients’ cars when necessary and transport patients back to their vehicles in a golf cart purchased for the hospital.

Hospital Entrance B to stay open 24/7

Hospital Entrance B on the south side of the campus will remain open for patients and visitors around the clock once signage is complete, Hale said. Hospital Entrance C on the west side will be reserved for employees only after hours, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.; a badge reader is available at the left side of the front door.
