April 9: “How Stress Impacts Clinical Practice and Personal Wellness”

Presenter Gary McCalla takes you through an emergency doctor’s journey in discovering stress-management techniques.

Clinicians experience acute stressors such as lawsuits, divorce and unanticipated medical outcomes. They frequently go through these alone, as we don’t have formal training on how to assist our colleagues.

Part of APP’s Your Well-being at Work webinar series, Gary McCalla, MD, will take you through an emergency doctor’s journey in discovering stress-management tactics to help with better clinical practice and personal outcomes.

Dr. McCalla’s interest in managing stress has been part of his personal journey during his 25-year career as an emergency medicine physician. Dr. McCalla has participated in cognitive behavior therapy for over 20 years and will share proven stress-management techniques.

He currently serves as medical director of emergency services at Asante Ashland Community Hospital and as medical director of the Asante Provider Wellness Program.
