APP names division medical director for primary care
Suzin Hagar, MD, will step into the newly created role of APP division medical director of primary care.
In this position she will work closely with site medical directors of APP primary care clinics and will report to Jamie Grebosky, MD, Asante chief medical officer.
She and Shalene Lambert, interim director of Primary Care Operations, will support the APP primary care clinics by providing leadership and clinical oversight. Dr. Hagar will continue to serve as the site medical director for the Black Oak primary care clinic in Medford.
Dr. Hagar has been with Asante for more than six years. She earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York and completed her internship in internal medicine and pediatrics with the University of Illinois in Chicago. She served her residency in family medicine at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas, California, through the University of California at San Francisco.
Dr. Hagar is passionate about improving health care services for our community, most recently spearheading the drive-thru monoclonal antibody clinic in the Asante Black Oak Medical Center parking lot. At the Black Oak clinic, Dr. Hagar led team-building exercises (including a staff camping trip), promoted mindfulness to reduce burnout and helped lead an effort to develop new workflows and practices for a team-based model of care. Most recently she has been a public advocate for COVID-19 vaccination.
“We are excited to have Dr. Hagar take on this role and look forward to her continued leadership within Asante,” Dr. Grebosky said. “Please join me in welcoming Dr. Hagar to her new role.”
