AACH leader Lee Shapley, MD, announces his departure

The hospital administrator and vice president of Medical Affairs will relocate to the East Coast in June.

Lee Shapley, MDAACH administrator and Vice President of Medical Affairs Lee Shapley, MD, has announced his departure from the organization, likely in early June. He and his family are moving back to the East Coast to be near extended family.

Dr. Shapley joined AACH in 2015 as a hospitalist. In 2018 he was named vice president of Medical Affairs, succeeding Jamie Grebosky, MD, who had moved into a system executive position. In 2020, Dr. Shapley became hospital administrator following the departure of former CEO Sheila Clough.

Most recently, Dr. Shapley was instrumental in opening the new infusion center at the hospital to treat patients with COVID-19.

Dr. Grebosky, Amanda Kotler and Kristi Blackhurst will continue to provide the hospital’s leadership. Recruitment efforts will begin to replace the administrator and vice president of Medical Affairs role at Asante Ashland.

“It has been a true honor to work to serve our patients at Asante Ashland Community Hospital over these past six years,” said Dr. Shapley. “I am reassured to know that I’m leaving my position in good hands with a very strong executive leadership team.”
